Faces called flowers (pt. 1)

This piece is inspired by the e.e. cummings poem titled "when faces called flowers float out of the ground," which celebrates the glory of spring. An excerpt of the poem is shared below:

"when faces called flowers float out of the ground
and breathing is wishing and wishing is having —
but keeping is downward and doubting and never
–it’s april (yes,april;my darling)it’s spring!
yes the pretty birds frolic as spry as can fly
yes the little fish gambol as glad as can be
(yes the mountains are dancing together)"

Embroidery is created by hand, directly onto the postcard, using French cotton embroidery thread and hand-dyed silk thread.

The vintage photograph measures about 3.5"x5.5" and will arrive in a complimentary custom built frame to hold the hanging threads in place. (Unfortunately, due to delays, the frame is not shown in the photographs. The piece will be shipped out by early June.) The threads have been slightly stiffened to maintain their structure. The piece will be signed and dated on the back in pencil.

Please note, as this is a vintage photograph, there may be some wear or damage to the edges of the photograph, as captured in the images.
