Beautiful Japanese cherry blossoms
An attempt to recreate the glorious magic of cherry blossoms during beautiful springtime. The blossoms are made up of hundreds of French knots in more than a dozen shades of pink and deep rose, layered to create depth. The colors are slightly softer in person than as seen on screen.
The embroidery is created directly onto the postcard using French cotton embroidery thread and hand-dyed silk thread. The hand-colored postcard features the daughters of the third secretary of the Japanese embassy enjoying the deep rose and pink cherry blossoms in Washington, D.C.
The vintage postcard measures 3.5"x5.5" and will arrive unframed. The artwork will be signed and dated in pencil on the back. A certificate of authenticity is included.
Please note, this postcard features discoloration, rubbed corners and damaged edges due to its age (~1930s), as captured in the images.
Although I try to edit the photos to reflect the actual color of the artwork as best as possible, colors may vary in person, as every monitor or screen has a different capability to display colors and everyone perceives colors differently. Please feel free to contact me for a video, if desired for a closer look at the artwork.
