A kept man

A continuation of my "Flower Wife" series, this piece celebrates the life, beauty, and quiet strength of women—often overlooked or secondary figures in early 1900s photographs. The embroidered flowers symbolize both natural beauty and resilience, blooming year after year with grace and power.

The embroidery is stitched entirely by hand, directly onto the vintage photograph using fine French cotton threads. The first two images show the embroidery in detail, while the final photos reveal the full composition—featuring loose threads held delicately in the figures’ hands. These threads can be gently rearranged to your liking once framed.

The original vintage postcard measures 3.5" x 5.5" and comes in a complimentary white frame with an acrylic back, allowing the piece to be viewed from both sides. The artwork is signed in pencil.

Please note: The framed images were photographed beneath a suncatcher for a playful rainbow effect. The actual frame and mat are both white.
