A canopy of cherry blossoms
An attempt to recreate the glorious magic of cherry blossoms during beautiful springtime. The blossoms are made up of hundreds of French knots in more than a dozen shades of pink, rose and cream, layered to create depth. The colors are softer and more delicate in person than as seen on screen.
The embroidery is created directly onto the postcard using French cotton embroidery thread and hand-dyed silk thread. The original image depicts the cherry blossoms near Thomas Jefferson Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The vintage postcard measures 3.5"x5.5" and will arrive unframed. The artwork will be signed and dated in pencil on the back. A certificate of authenticity is included.
Due to its vintage nature, the postcard features minor wear on the corners and edges, as shown in the images.
Although I try to edit the photos to reflect the actual color of the artwork as best as possible, colors may vary in person, as every monitor or screen has a different capability to display colors and everyone perceives colors differently. Please feel free to contact me for a video, if desired for a closer look at the artwork.
